Fingerboard Components

The following are the main components of fingerboards:

Deck – the major component of the board. Usually made of wood or plastic. Wood decks give it a more authentic feel. Average decks have two kicks (one on each end).

Grip Tape – Friction tape that is attached to the topside of the deck, which allows fingerboarders to maintain greater control of the deck and board. The type of grip varies depending on owner’s preference.

Trucks - Attached to the bottom of decks and secure the wheel and bushings. They can be simple one-mold pieces or complicated multi-part components.

Bushings - The pliable material that provide the cushion for making turn on the skateboard. However, on fingerboards, they function to help stabilize the trucks so that the wheels are in the same position.

Wheels - Self explanatory.

Note: The trucks and decks can be changed and modified to lower and reduce the weight of the board, to improve how smooth they ride, or for completely aesthetic reasons only as well.
